Debate on Fake Bhutanese Refugee Case Intensifies from Today

Kathmandu : Debate on Alleged Fake Bhutanese Refugee Case Begins with the Accused.

As informed by District Court Information Officer Deepak Dahal, the discussion regarding the alleged fake Bhutanese refugee case has commenced today in the chamber of District Judge Prem Prasad Nyaulan. This comes after the completion of statements from the 18 individuals who were arrested so far.

According to him, the government lawyer has initiated the debate on behalf of the prosecution. The judge has granted a three-day period to the government lawyer for the discussion. Similarly, the defense lawyers have been given a timeframe of fourteen days, as mentioned by Information Officer Dahal.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, former Secretary Nilambar Acharya, former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa’s security advisor Indrajeet Rai, Bhutanese refugee leaders Teknath Rijal, Keshav Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, and others were among the 18 individuals who provided statements in court.

The District Government Lawyer’s Office has filed four separate cases, amounting to a demand of NPR 27 crores 50 lakhs, against the 30 individuals who are still at large, accusing them of organized crime, forgery, fraud, and anti-state activities. These cases were registered in the district court on the 10th of Jestha.
