Washington, D.C. : The first-ever Hindu-American conference in the United States was held at the Capitol Hill, the center of American power. The conference took place on June 14 with the objective of drawing attention from American lawmakers to the issues faced by the Hindu community residing in America. The conference was given the name “American Hindu Conference” specifically for Hindus. According to available information, the conference commenced with Vedic chants and prayers. In this regard, Ramesh Jaipal stated, “Our Hindu values are fully integrated with the American Constitution, resonating with the Bhagavad Gita. Therefore, we are dedicated to giving a voice to Hindu Americans.”
Ramesh Jaipal, the founder and president of this Hindu conference, revealed that this was the first-ever conference of its kind. He expressed that the Hindu American conference was organized for political participation. “We are active in our community in terms of culture, society, economy, religion, and other areas, but we lag behind in politics,” he stated.
The American Hindu Conference, along with 20 other American diasporas, was organized by the American Hindu Political Action Committee for the benefit of Hindus. Approximately 130 Indian-American leaders from cities such as Florida, New York, Boston, Texas, Chicago, California, and others will participate in this conference.
