Pokhara: The Nepal-China friendly ‘Dragon Boat Race Festival’ is scheduled to start from Friday in Phewa Lake. Today, the rehearsal of the event has been conducted.
The ‘Dragon Boat Race Festival’ is set to take place on July 8 and 9 as a joint initiative of the Chinese government. The Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Nepal Tourism Board, Pokhara Metropolitan City, and Regional Hotel Association Pokhara are involved in this event. In the first-ever organized boat race in South Asia, four teams from China and four teams from Nepal will participate. The competition will be held in the 200 to 500-meter race category.
To participate in the festival, the Chinese team arrived at Pokhara International Airport on Wednesday via a chartered flight by Sichuan Airlines. The Chinese government is covering the expenses of the Chinese players and officials for their stay, food, transportation, and other costs incurred in Pokhara.
With the construction of Pokhara International Airport by China, the organizers of this festival have confidence that it will contribute to the promotion of tourism.
