Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations is coming to Nepal today

Kathmandu : The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, is arriving in Nepal today. He is visiting Nepal for a four-day trip to observe the Department of Peacekeeping Operations of the United Nations.

During his visit, Deputy Secretary-General Lacroix has scheduled meetings with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Purushottam Bhandari, and Minister of Foreign Affairs NP Saud, among others. Additionally, he has a program to meet with the Chief of Army Staff, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force as well. The Nepali Army has briefed him on the peacekeeping contributions made by Nepal globally. He has praised Nepal’s contribution to the peace process and has shown interest in gathering further information.

Nepal holds the second position in the list of countries contributing to the United Nations peacekeeping missions. In terms of female participation in peacekeeping forces, Nepal ranks first among the countries that deploy a significant number of female soldiers.

The United Nations has highly praised Nepal for its leading role in peace establishment initiatives.
