Jhapa: a person has died due to an attack by a wild elephant. The information was provided by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagenendra Prasad Rijal of Jhapa District Police Office, stating that the deceased was Girin Karmakar, a 53-year-old resident of Bhadrapur Municipality-7.
According to the police, on Tuesday morning at around 4 o’clock, while Girin Karmakar was in Mahendra Pokharel’s tea garden located 300 meters north of Deuniya Khola Bridge in Gaunpalika-2 of Haldibari, he was attacked by a wild elephant while trying to chase away the elephants from the tea garden. DSP Rijal informed that the incident resulted in the death of the worker.
The incident took place near the Haldibari Police Post and Jhapa District Police Office reached the scene. Necessary legal procedures are being completed, and preparations are being made to send the body to Bhadrapur Regional Hospital.
