Pithoragarh : which is considered the abode of Lord Shiva’s home, can now be visited from India to see the sacred Mount Kailash. According to Indian media reports, for this purpose, India is constructing a new road from the strategically controlled territory of China, Tibet. As per the information provided by the media, the view of the Kailash Mountain can be seen from Lipulekh, located about 18,000 feet above sea level in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. The distance from here to the Himalayan airspace is 50 kilometers. Daily Bhaskar, an Indian media outlet, has reported that preparations are underway to construct two new roads to reach the destination.
According to the media, the local villages have identified the new route. Officials and experts from the villages have conducted surveys of the road, human settlement arrangements, and other facilities to reach the pilgrimage site. They have also prepared a report for the Ministry of Tourism.
Kriti Chanda, a member of the expert team, has mentioned that Lipulekh Mountain, from where the Kailash Mountain can be seen, is situated about 2 kilometers above the Nabhidang. According to her, it is possible to visit the Kailash Himalaya after a 4-5 day journey from here. Devotees will have to reach Darchula and then continue on foot for a 2-kilometer uphill trek.
It has been stated by the Department of Tourism that one needs to climb 2 kilometers to reach the old Lipulekh, which is not easily accessible. The construction of the road has begun with the intention of making it possible to reach the destination.
Furthermore, the locals residing near Limpiyadhura, which is about 25 kilometers above the geological feature of Pithoragarh, claim that the Kailash Himalaya can be seen from Chuchuro. In this region, there are also Om Parvat, and the sacred Lake Mansarovar, among other attractions. After witnessing the Kailash Himalaya from this area, efforts have been made to expand the scope of religious tourism in this region
