Kenya:  a tragic accident occurred on a busy road in western Kenya, where a truck lost control and collided with other vehicles and pedestrians, resulting in the death of 48 people. According to Al Jazeera, the death toll currently stands at 48, with concerns that one or two more individuals may still be trapped under the truck. The incident took place on the highway between Kericho and Nakuru cities on Friday night. Local police commander Jeffrey Mayek stated, ‘Thirty individuals are seriously injured in the accident. They have been admitted to various hospitals. Although the number of casualties could be higher, we have confirmed 30 individuals so far.’

Regional police commander Tom Odera confirmed the death toll of 48. He said, ‘A truck coming from Kericho lost control, crashed into a bus stop, hitting several minibusses filled with passengers and pedestrians waiting at the bus stop.’

The eyewitness Peter Otiene, who was driving nearby, said, ‘I saw a trailer coming at high speed. After the collision, I ran away. I saw about 20 bodies with my own eyes. There were also other bodies under the vehicle.’

Due to heavy rainfall, communication channels in the affected area have been disrupted, hindering rescue operations
