Kathmandu : Due to continuous rainfall and flooding, at least 76 people have died in Pakistan so far, with 133 reported injuries, according to the National Disaster Management Authority. The latest report by the authority mentions 9 deaths and 8 injuries in the past 24 hours due to heavy rainfall.

Out of the total fatalities, 15 are women and 31 are children. Around 78 houses have been damaged by the monsoon-related incidents.

The impact of heavy rainfall and flooding is most severe in the Punjab province, where 48 deaths have been reported. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 20 deaths have been recorded, and Balochistan has reported 5 deaths.

It is worth noting that on July 6, only 18 deaths were reported in the Punjab province. The Pakistan Meteorological Department had predicted the onset of the first monsoon rains from July 3 to 8. The weather forecast from the Meteorological Department’s Monsoon Branch indicated the possibility of landslides in hilly regions and potential flooding in low-lying areas.
