Lahore: Punjab province of Pakistan, a gas cylinder explosion occurred in a hotel on Sunday, resulting in the death of six individuals. Following the accident, it was reported by officials that at least six people had died, while 10 others were injured. Concerns were raised about the possible presence of four to five more trapped individuals within the three-story building.
Local authorities at the scene identified the blast to have taken place in the basement of the hotel located on Grand Trunk (GT) Road in Jhelum, Punjab province. Geo News channel quoted Deputy Commissioner Samuelullah Farooq confirming the death of six individuals and the hospitalization of 10 injured individuals for treatment.
Deputy Commissioner Samuelullah Farooq stated that efforts were underway to remove the remaining debris. Heavy machinery was being utilized to clear the wreckage. The Jhelum police had informed about the use of heavy machinery to remove the debris.
Following the incident, the emergency situation was declared at the District Headquarters Hospital in Jhelum. All staff members and doctors were put on duty. Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Hassan Tarik confirmed that the injured individuals were receiving treatment at the Jhelum District Headquarters Hospital, where senior doctors and staff were present.
