Kathmandu: Various programs are being organized today in different places in Nepal and abroad to celebrate the 210th birth anniversary of the pioneer poet of Nepali literature, Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya. Bhanubhakta Acharya was born on Ashad 29, 1871, in Tanahu district. He received his education from his grandfather Shreekrishna Acharya, and his parents Dhana Raj Acharya and Dharmavati Devi.
Bhanubhakta Acharya also received education in Varanasi, India, for some time. He translated the Ramayana from Sanskrit into the Nepali language. His works, including the Ramayana, Bhaktamala, Prashnottar, Vadhushiksha, and Ramgeeta, among others, are popular among the Nepali-speaking people.
He passed away in 1925. On the occasion of Bhanujayanti, Gandaki Province has declared a public holiday on Friday.
