Kathmandu : Nepal Volleyball Association has appointed Manav Bahadur Shrestha as the captain of the Nepali national men’s volleyball team.

The decision to give the responsibility of captaincy to the spiker Shrestha was made during a meeting of the association’s executive committee held at Trihuvan Army Club.

Shrestha, who has been part of the national team since 2015, has played in five Central Zone Volleyball Championships and the Kabaddi National League.

In 2017, Nepal won the bronze medal in the Central Zone Volleyball Championship in the Maldives, and Shrestha was honored with the Best Outside Second Attacker award.

Haribhakta Thapa, who was appointed last month, was removed from the captaincy, and Shrestha has now been appointed in his place.

It has been alleged that Thapa was removed from the captaincy due to disciplinary violations during the recently concluded 7th NVA Cup National Women’s and Men’s Club Volleyball Championship held in Kathmandu.
