Kathmandu : Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda is going to Italy today. He will be participating in the ‘United Nations Food Systems Summit Plus Two’ organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Italy.
Accompanied by the Nepali delegation, Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to depart this evening, as informed by his press advisor, Govinda Acharya.
During the ‘United Nations Food Systems – 2023 Stocking Moment’ program to be held at the FAO headquarters in Rome, Prime Minister Prachanda will deliver a special address. This event will be organized from Saun 8 to 10.
On Saun 8, Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to attend the inauguration of the event. On the same day, he will participate in a discussion session on school meals. On Saun 9, he will also participate in a session on food system transformation and practices.
As part of his visit, Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to hold sideline meetings with high-ranking officials of the United Nations in Italy. He will also have a meeting with UN officials, including the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization, the Executive Director of the World Food Program, and the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
Apart from Nepal’s food security, this visit is crucial for addressing challenges and seeking international support. In Rome, Prime Minister Prachanda will also be participating in programs organized by the Nepali community.
Accompanying Prime Minister Prachanda on the official visit are his personal secretary and daughter, Ganga Dahal, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr. Beduram Bhusal, and Dr. Jayakant Raut, a member of the National Planning Commission. He will return to Nepal on Saun 12, after completing the visit.
