Kathmandu : Since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter last year, many changes have been made to the Twitter platform’s rules. Among them, one major change is the introduction of Twitter Blue subscription.
Twitter now charges a fee for verification, also known as the Blue Tick, which allows users to get a verified badge on their profiles. This has led to criticism and complaints from Twitter users, especially those with smaller followings. Although Twitter has also introduced the feature to edit tweets along with the Blue Tick, the number of users with access to this feature remains limited.
Elon Musk has been exploring various ways to increase revenue on the Twitter platform, given the declining number of active users and the company’s financial situation. In addition to the Twitter Blue subscription, there are reports that Elon Musk is planning to introduce charges for sending Direct Messages (DMs) on Twitter.
In reality, Elon Musk has included DMs within the Twitter Blue service. This means that users who do not have the Twitter Blue subscription will not be able to send as many DMs as they wish. Twitter will impose limits on DMs for regular accounts, and those who do not have the Twitter Blue subscription will have limited access to sending DMs.
The Blue Subscription allows DMs to be accessible while restricting the number of DMs for regular accounts. However, the specifics of how many DMs regular users will be able to send per day have not been disclosed. Before this feature, Twitter had launched a test for DMs on July 14. Users had expressed concerns about the spam messages on Twitter.
According to claims, this decision to place a limit on DMs in response to spam messages was taken by Musk.
