kathmandu : In Australia, there was an accident involving a military helicopter in the coastal area of Hamilton Island, Queensland.
The accident resulted in four members of the crew being injured. According to the information provided by BBC, the incident occurred during a joint military exercise involving the Australian helicopter and the United States.
Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles immediately initiated a search and rescue operation. As per Minister Marles, the MRH-90 type helicopter crashed near the top of the mountain at around 10:30 PM local time.
Following the accident, the “Operation Talisman Sabre” has been suspended. Reportedly, at the time of the Talisman Sabre exercise, American marines and Australian soldiers were conducting drills together at White Sands.
Talisman Sabre involves the participation of around 30,000 military personnel from approximately 13 countries, including the United States, France, and Australia. Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and Tonga are participating for the first time.
