Kathmandu: The Hollywood film ‘Barbie’ has created a sensation in the global box office. In just 17 days of its release, this film has entered the billion-dollar club on Sunday. Additionally, for the third consecutive week, the film is at the top position in the international market.
Until Sunday, the total earnings of ‘Barbie’ worldwide have reached $1.031 billion. According to the deadline set by Hollywood Magazine, ‘Barbie’ has earned $459 million from North America and $572 million from the international market.
In 35 major international markets, the film continues to hold the top position. In 2023, it is the second film to earn a billion dollars. This achievement was also accomplished by the film ‘The Super Mario Bros’ this year.
Furthermore, ‘Barbie’ joins the list of famous films that have earned a billion dollars, including Fast X, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Batman Begins, and Superman: Dawn of Justice.
In addition to this, three other films directed by women have also entered the billion-dollar club. These include ‘Frozen’ ($1.3 billion), ‘Frozen 2’ ($1.45 billion), and ‘Captain Marvel’ ($1.1 billion). ‘Barbie’ has become the fastest film in Warner Bros.’ century-long history to earn a billion dollars, achieving this feat in just 17 days.
