Kathmandu: Renowned Malayalam film director Siddique Ismail has passed away. He died at the age of 63 due to a heart attack. He directed Salman Khan’s film ‘Bodyguard’.
Siddique Ismail was a well-known director in the Malayalam industry. He had been suffering from pneumonia and kidney issues for a few days. After his health deteriorated, he was admitted to Kozhikode’s Amrita Hospital.
During his treatment, he was put on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. Despite efforts, he suffered a heart attack and bid farewell to the world permanently.
Doctors made many efforts to save him. There was hope that he would recover and return home in good health, but that was not possible. The director began his career with the Malayalam film ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’ in 1989.
He gained recognition for films like ‘Harihar Nagar’, ‘Godfather’, ‘Kabuliwala’, ‘Vietnam Colony’, and ‘Hitler’. His last film was ‘Big Brother’, which was a hit at the box office. Superstar Mohanlal and actor Arbaaz Khan played lead roles in this film.
Siddique was well-known for his excellent direction. His direction of Salman Khan’s film ‘Bodyguard’ was outstanding and left a significant impact. This film was released in 2011 and its exceptional direction left a deep impression on the big screen. Siddique also directed the Tamil version of ‘Bodyguard’, titled ‘Kaavalan’.
As great a director as he was, he was equally talented as an actor. In 2022, he played a special role in the film ‘Kena Kena’, where he captivated everyone’s attention with his small yet impactful performance.
The news of Siddique’s passing has brought a wave of mourning to the industry. Many celebrities, including Dulquer Salman and Atlee, expressed their grief at the sudden demise of the director. Siddique Ismail, even though being illiterate, directed films and tried to create a different perspective through his efforts.
