Eye-related issues among prisoners A problem of eye infections has been observed among prisoners in Chitwan Prison. Due to overcrowding and a higher number of inmates than capacity, the fear of disease spreading is prevalent.

As per Chief Lekhnath Poudel, the Office Chief, eye infection has been observed in 30 prisoners. The issue has been noticed for the past four days. He mentioned that the infection has been spreading gradually. The infected prisoners have been isolated. Necessary medications have been arranged for them, Poudel informed. The prison has a capacity of 255 males and 25 females. Currently, there are 713 male and 47 female prisoners. Additionally, Poudel informed that five children are also residing there.

Given the rapid spread of the disease, efforts have been made to prevent it from spreading further. The problem of eye infections has surged significantly in the district. The closure of educational institutions has been one reason for this. Patients with eye infections have been requested to take precautions and not to rub their eyes in crowded areas. The number of patients in Bharatpur Eye Hospital has increased drastically. After the onset of eye infections, recovery usually takes around a week.
