At the age of 26, Hasan Ranga took retirement from Test cricket

Kathmandu: Renowned Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has announced retirement from Test cricket at the age of 26.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has confirmed that Hasaranga has taken retirement from Test cricket while prioritizing limited-overs cricket. He will continue to play T20 internationals and One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Having established himself as an exceptional leg-spinner and all-rounder in the cricket world, Hasaranga made his Test debut against South Africa in 2020. In his 4 Test matches, he scored 196 runs and took 4 wickets. His final Test match was played against Bangladesh in April 2021.

In ODIs, Hasaranga has taken 67 wickets in 48 matches. He has also scored a total of 832 runs, including four half-centuries. Similarly, in 58 T20Is, he has scored 533 runs and taken 91 wickets.

The decision of Hasaranga’s retirement from Test cricket has been accepted by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
