Gandaki : The Gandaki Provincial Assembly meeting is scheduled for today. The meeting has been called for 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Previously, the meeting had been postponed twice, citing the absence of a quorum due to the lack of “business.”
In today’s meeting, the names of members to sit on the thematic committees will be presented by the Secretariat of the Provincial Assembly.
The spokesperson of the Secretariat, Prem Suvedi, informed that the Forest Bill, brought by the government, will be discussed in the meeting. Previously, a meeting scheduled for last Thursday and Monday was postponed by the government after it was found that there was no business to conduct.
The Chief Whip of the main opposition party, CPN (UML), has also registered two important public proposals related to the operation of the Pokhara International Airport and the control of a contagious skin disease called ‘lampi’ seen in livestock in the Secretariat of the Provincial Assembly.
Even though seven months have passed since the start of the second term of the Provincial Assembly, a “mini-parliament” thematic committee has not yet been formed.
As per the provisions of the Provincial Assembly Rules of Procedure, there will be four thematic committees in the Provincial Assembly focused on finance and development, public account, provincial affairs, law and social development, and agriculture.
