Bhojpur: In the remote Salpasilicho Rural Municipality of Bhojpur district, ‘Broadband Internet’ equipment has been distributed in 38 community schools. The expansion of internet services has begun to integrate technology-oriented education.

Among the 44 schools in the region, 38 schools in the first phase have undergone the expansion of internet services. Information about this was provided by the Chief of the Rural Municipality’s Education Section, Thaneshwar Guragain.

In the local secondary schools, the expansion of internet services had already been carried out. In the second phase, the goal is to further expand the internet capacity in these schools, according to Guragain.

As per the agreement between Nepal Telecommunication Authority and Salpasilicho Rural Municipality, the expansion of internet services has taken place in these schools. The Chief Administrative Officer of the Rural Municipality, Madhav Kumar Adhikari, informed that the authority is expanding the dedicated 20 Mbps non-dedicated service to each school.

The effort to integrate technology-oriented education into community schools is being carried out systematically, said the Chief Administrative Officer, ensuring information systems’ development. The allocation of NPR 9.7 million special grants from the National Planning Commission for information system development has further facilitated these efforts.

“We are connecting technology-based education in all community schools in the rural municipality,” said the Chief Administrative Officer. “Our main goal is to make all community schools technology-savvy.”

The internet service expansion in community schools is expected to make it easier for children to access modern and technology-based education, according to Daulat Kulung, the Rural Municipality’s chairman.

The expansion of technology’s role is aimed at improving the quality of education, said Chairman Kulung. “Through the collaboration with Nepal Telecommunication Authority, we have expanded quality internet services to 38 schools,” he stated. “This will make it easier for local children to access technology-based education.”

As per the agreement, the authority will provide quality internet services at a rate of NPR 73,900 for 28 days in one school for the first year. In the second year, the rural municipality’s goal is to provide internet services at a rate of NPR 18,800 for 28 days in one school, similar to a service rate of NPR 7,200 for 28 days in the third year.”
