Kathmandu : Under the House of Representatives, 10 thematic committees have elected their chairpersons today.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, out of the ten thematic committees, nine have proposed a single candidate each, while one committee has registered the candidacies of two individuals.
In committees with a single candidacy proposal, the Chairperson will be automatically declared today. For the committee where two individuals are contesting, an election will take place for the position of Chairperson for the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee.
After Janata Party’s Abdul Khan and National Independent Party’s Ganesh Parajuli were proposed as candidates, an election will be held in that committee.
Though Janata Party and Rashtriya Janamorcha both claim rights over this committee, after Rastriya Janamorcha’s candidate Rasuwagadhi and Janata Party’s Rastriya made their candidacies, the election process will proceed.
Congress members Arju Rana and Ramhari Khatiwada have registered for the position of Chairperson in the Agriculture, Cooperative, and Natural Resources Committee, and the Finance Committee, respectively.
Similarly, Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist)’s Rishikesh Joshi, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party’s Dipak Singh Rathor, and Janata Party’s Abdul Khan have registered their candidacies for the positions of Chairperson in the Public Accounts Committee, Tourism Committee, and Industry, Commerce, Labor, and Consumer Welfare Committee, respectively.
Additionally, from the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist), Bhanubhakta Joshi in the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee, and from Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Vimala Subedi in the Law, Justice, Human Rights, and International Relations Committee, and Rajkishor Yadav in the International Relations and Tourism Committee have registered their candidacies.
