Kathmandu : Challenging the beauty pageant’s conventional standards, Miss Universe Nepal 2023 winner Jane Deepika Gaire has emerged victorious. In the final event held on Saturday at the Sunrise Convention Center in Lalitpur, the 2022 winner Sofia Bhujel crowned her.
With a plus-size figure, Deepika challenged the beauty contest’s traditional “standard” measurements to claim the title. She arrived in Kathmandu after returning from the United States. The 22-year-old has been advocating for mental health, body positivity, and hormonal health.
When Garima Ghimire was declared the first runner-up, Buddha Shara Sunar became the second runner-up. The final round featured two married women. Among them, Shitasma Pokharel was declared the third runner-up, while Abhilasha Lamsal Thapa was declared the fourth runner-up.
Saurabh Jyoti, Suraksha Pant, Upaul Majumdar, Upasana Ghimire, Ayush Karki Shrestha, Raviraj Karnikar, Sangeeta Pahadi, and Nandini Lehi Thapa played pivotal roles in this year’s competition. The winner, Deepika, will represent Nepal at the 72nd Miss Universe, scheduled to take place in El Salvador in November.
